Default is the tial supposed to make sound when under no boost?????

well i am venting my tial to the atmosphere, and i thought that you would only hear your regular exhaust during regular cruising and that the tial only opened at max boost, now its pretty loud under regular driving, and damm loud when it opens.

is it supposed to be like this?

running just the spring, hooked the side port to the turbo and left the top one open since i am not running a boost controller. everything ishooked up right, just probaby wont hear what i want to,

and do you lose power when re routing it? i heard maybe like 2-3 horses,

At what Psi (or bar) is the spring set at? (ie. what size is the spring) Once you hit that psi or bar it will open and definitely be louder.

Could your WG gasket have ripped already?

sounds like you left the specisl washer/gasket out. My friend did that andhad the exact same problem. It looks like a metal ring that gets sandwiched inbetween the wastegate and the manifold when you bolt the wastegate down.

i put it in and its still dumb loud, was supposed to get the 9.43 spring but i guess they screwed up and sent me the 7 psi spring,

its ok, i just kinda wish that you hear the regular exhaust and right at 7 psi it opens, more of a surprise

did anyone ever find a decent solution to the tial wastegate gasket problems? the best I ever got was with no gasket at all.. still leaked a tiny bit, but was much better than having broken gaskets every 2-3 weeks

This is normal.

The valve is slowly opening during boost, causing the louder sound even before full boost. It's not like the valve will just suddenly open right at the springs boost rating. This is why adding certain MBC's, or a EBC, will lessen the spool up time. They keep the valve completely closed until the specified boost pressure is reached.

would no gasket and just some copper gasket maker do very well?

so an mbc can be somewhat a solution?
i mean it makes maaad noise even driving under vacuum, not whining about it, i like it, but wish the "opening" was more of a surprise. nah mean?

Yes.

Just make sure the valve is a type that is closed until the full boost rating you set it too.

Dawes Device and TurboXS are 2 good choices

so i'll try a dawes devices next paycheck

i just wanna run the spring for now, so should i just turn the MBC to minimum setting right?

wg sound is cool , but even during soft cruising at 15 vacuum it gets annoying, love when it opens but sometimes it gets annoying, cool then, thanks for the tips, later

i know this sounds weird, but with my internal wastegate and 2.5 dp and test pipe and 2.25 catback i was running 9-9.5 psi and it felt quicker, now with the 7 psi spring it feels slower and with a full 3" exhaust

now i know there is a diff between teh 2.5 psi, but it feels like it takes longer to spool is what i'm saying now,

please tell me that an MBC will cure this to.

how does the mbc help my problem of wg (pre)venting- exhaust and spool up? can someone explain, thanks

Nope, the wastegate should be completely closed at idle. You shouldn't feel any exhaust coming out the dumptube.

No there should be no exhaust coming out at idle, however i had the same exact problem with mine at first. Take it off carefully, and make sure the metal ring is seated correctly in the wastegate. Next, put it back on the manifold very carefully, it helps to push the wastegate down so the ring is squished onto the manifold, making sure there is no visible space between wastegate/gasket/manifold, and bolt it back up. That should take care of it venting while under idle, because it fixed it for me. hope this helps some.
