Default CR-V bottom ends on 99-00 Si/SiR?

I heard that some people are putting CR-V engine bottom ends on 1999-2000 Civic Si/SiR's. What does this do, and what other components do you need to install this? Also, how many more horses do you get from doing this?

Also, what's the best Honda/Acura engine set-up? My friend wants to do an engine swap into a 5th generation Civic h/b he is going to buy in about a week.

you know, he also has a civic, which is why he is posting in the civic board. if he has a question, let him ask. all you're doing is post whoring......get over yourself. anyways, back to the question. the CRVtec swap is becoming more and more popular, altohugh it does require a bit or preparation and planning. you start off with the CRV bottom end, and add a B-series VTEC head. the B16 head is the most recommended, but some people use the B18C1 or B18C5 heads as well. there are many other parts that you will need to get and the list is too long for this post. try reading up on this swap at http://www.crvtec.com and http://www.b-20.net . there will be lot sof info, as well as power gains, cost, and work involved. if i were you though i would just stick with the nice high revving B16 and build that up. you might not get as much torque, but the work involve will be much simpler, comparitively. good luck.

Thanks man, I read the stuff on the websites and I noticed that it's not working. I just saw from friends who own VW's, that they are changing their 2 litre heads from GTi's to Scirocco's and stuff like that, and then I heard that people do the same to Civic's. I was thinking of doing it, but now that I have read the websites, I think I have changed my mind, too much money involved. I think I'll just stick to getting a nice thermal exhaust, an AEM intake, and some headers, and leave it at that. Also, I see you know a lot, so could you tell me which chip is good for a 99-00 Civic SiR, and that wont wear the engine to a shread, but give me some extra performance.... Thanks...
