How many of you dislike, or hate this car, and whats your reason?

I have been noticing a lot of negative feedback against this car, more than any Honda that has a performance oriented following. I have read comments such as "The Civic Si is a total waste of money" or "Makes you wonder if Honda instructs dealers to shove a hose up your @ss and inflate your head when you buy an Si, cause I swear 99% of the Si owners I've come accross are some of the most arrogant cocky SOB's".

Please do not make this a flame war, I just want to hear honest opinions as to why this Car has become the Black Sheep of the Honda family?

IT is like this well when the 99-00 si dropped and had the B16A2 in it stock everybody wanted it because you did not have to do a swap to go fast problem was that the car was a little to heavy (honda should have put it into the hatch in stead) SO when you could go buy a SI and spank all the EX's out there you would naturaly have peeps out there talking **** that there car was the fastes and the best. I wish it came with a 1.8 Vs the B16 dont get me wrong I love the B16 it is just it takes so much to make a 2600 pound car go fast all motor. That is why my car is gutted to the max no carpet panels etc I love my car because it has all the basis covered like 4 wheel disk brakes all the power features etc I am verry happy with my car and when you can get such a good car for 16200 like me well **** you got a bargin. I am now in the process of putting a R motor in my car becase I love my friends R and well I can take weight out of my car and he rely cant and I love to road race so I like the 1.8 liter motor and its tourque curve.

But with all good there are some bad things. I cant stand people that brag about having a SI it kind of labels your car as a car that ******** drive but to all there own I am quiet and I let my car do the trash talking.

I dont mean to bash the new SI's but I think Honda success with the 99-00 has sparked them to rape the consumer this time around. . I sat in the new one and must say it is well done the new seats and shifter make the car but the addes 1000 pounds and no increase in HP just TQ kind of kills the car and a sticker of 19,500 and a SI that is slower the the previous I think honda made a mistake but the potental of the new SI is great the new I-Vtec motors make so much more HP with simple Bolt ons so I guess it is a even match but the new one is a much more apealing car to the real driver in my opinon the inside makes the car.

I have dumped thousands of dallars in my car and have it were I want it and I love it honda did a good thing in 99-00 in my opinon. Just alittle more TQ and better seats would have made all the differece in the world

I like the 99-00 SI's and I will never bash them.

I loved my old 00 Si, I miss it every day. It was a little mushy in the corners, but I could never complain when that thing hit VTEC.

While at the dealer, I was torn between the Si, and a white DX hatch. I chose the Si because the standard equipment...Disc brakes, B16, sunroof, power everything...I didn't feel like buying a brand new DX, and swapping the motor, brakes and all the suspension. Seemed like a waste to me, not to mention I didn't have the money for all that.

Seems like the Si was made for guys like me. Someone that wants an all-around car, daily driver, etc.

I love the 99-00 Si's. Of course, that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I drive an EX...

Lol, well, let's see, if back in high school i didn't get all the mods or tickets i got for my car i think i would have easily chose to get the Si rather than my EX. I think the negativity comes from being the underdog, some Si owners might look down on single cams but i don't think its a big deal unless you make it one. So no hater here, only a lover of boost.

I don't like any coupe or sedan model including the 99-00 Si coupe I'm stuck in the past with the 92-95 hatch and I wouldn't even buy the Si in those years due to the weight factor. "If it's got a trunk, it's a piece of junk"

I like the Si, but not the ego maniac drivers that drive them. I really love when a guy in an Si pulls up next to me in my turbo EX and wants to race. I guess the poor bastard didn't see my FMIC. One guy wanted to know if I had NOS because I beat him so bad. I said, "No NOS here." He said, "Ok, then what?" I replied, "I just have a little turbo." His eyes got big and said, "Oh ****, and here I thought YOU were the riceboy!" I laughed my *** off.

Yeah I dont hate mine...I just wish Honda would have left it as a hatchback instead of putting the motor in a coupe!!!

SOHC or DOHC ?!? it is a honda !!! the only down side 2 Sohc is there is not made as much as for the Dohc !!

I like mine but the 99 - 00 Si is not a fast car. It needs about 30 more lbs of torque.

The Si's can hold their own at the autcross though.

I don't have a problem with my Si, mainly because I don't need to waste my money doing a swap to get power.

my 99 Si was my first car, i prefered the si to be a hatch, but i still loved it as a coupe. i loved the way it looked, the power it had ompared to the ex, and the way it came stock with all the features. Up to this day i still baby it.

As far as the attitudes alot of Si drivers have >>> , they give us quiet guys a bad name. The exterior of my Si is the way it came out of the factory and yet i still get revved on by other civic drivers. its funny how the 99-00 si drivers are said to be arrogant... while i get revved on by the new 2002 owners. some hate it but i LOVE it!!!

I love my Si! to tell you the truth, I don't really run into any cocky Si owners, I think that just a couple people have, they come on boards and complain about it, then everyone jumps on the bandwagon and starts saying that we're cocky etc. Then Everytime someone pulls up to a light with an Si, they think the driver is being arogent just because he doesn't look at him, or doesn't wave or anything stupid like that. If people opened their eyes, they would notice that people in all types of cars will have their cocky driver's... People just seem to notice it more in Si driver's just because we somehow got branded "Cocky". I'm a cocky guy, no lie, but I'll be damned if my car had anything to do with it, blame it on all the ladies who've jocked my *** since jr. highschool

and its funny, sometimes when they pull up to you at a light and see a bone stock civic hatch.

thinking they have the fastest honda at the light, and then get smoke by the stock looking civic.......hehehe, life isn't fair
