break-in after rebuld issue
Is this advisable? I just got my block built with sleeves and forged pistons, and am about to put my car back on the road. The turbo system is already installed and ready for boosting. However, we know that for a proper break in, the car should not be boosted for at least 500 miles. Instead of leaving the boost pipe disconnected and over spooling the turbo, how effective would it be to remove the wastegate(turbonetics deltagate) spring. Will the turbo still boost?
I don't know about the Delgate, but on the TIAL, there is a ring that can be removed. Without it, the exhaust pressure will just bleed out through the dumptube.
Having said that. Iam also breaking my car in WITH the turbo on. As long as I don't go WOT and go past 3000rpms I can control the turbo pretty well and not boost. Just go light on the throttle and it should be okay, unless you have a lead foot or a small turbo that boost off the line..
