Turbo Break-In Guidelines
B4 anyone indicates to do a search, I have. What I turned up seemed to be mostly conjecture.
My questions are:
1. What is the best length of time to break in your turbo?
2. Should you not boost at all?
3. Should you boost just a bit occasionally?
I have a newly installed Drag Gen3 turbo kit. Any input would be appreciated, and reference to any resources would also be appreciated.
Thanks!
p.s. My local tuner shop indicated that break-in takes 500 miles, and I should stay beneath 4KRPMs, and never boost.

Re: Turbo Break-In Guidelines (DeepSi)
When i got mine, i drove it around a bit and tried to listen for any thing that was out of the norm. I boosted a couple of times to make sure that everything was on par (making sure wg holds proper boost, no vacum leaks, no loose connections, etc.).
I personally wouldn't go ***** out, but It might be ok to do so.

Turbos are balanced and tested before leaving the factory. They are boost ready as soon as you open the box. Boost away, there isnt any break in period at all.

That would be true if your engine was brand new and you got the turbo installed at the same time.

Re: Turbo Break-In Guidelines (swrdply400mrelay)
Thanks for all the input! I have about 200 miles on the new turbo now, and from the sounds of it, I should be fine to go ahead a boost a bit.

It is INSANELY hard not to boost!!!
I just want to ensure that I dont let a few miles of no boost craziness cause me issues in the future.
