Let me hear about your torque steer....
I have a 91 Si, stock motor and trans. Obviously no intermediate shaft, thus giving me torque steer pretty wicked in 1,2 gear at full throttle. If I took my hands off the wheel I would violently veer straight into the woods. My car was never hit, curbed, etc. The alignment is straight and all susp. joints/bushings are tight. I know it is torque steer cause when I'm off the gas she coasts straight down the road. Clue me in on any tricks as to help this problem, if any. And dont tell me to get a LSD or a ZC trans w/halfshaft. Help.
My old '87 HB with B20vtec would throw me all over the road even with my hands on the wheel. The torque steer was crazy on that car. Kind of scary sometimes but it was worth it having all the power it did.
Here is what I did to reduce my torque steer: buy a carton of golf ***** and start sticking them up the exhaust pipe one by one. I know it sounds like a weird fix for the problem, but trust me.
Ok, I was joking...don't do that...(LOL)
I'd be interested in this too. I wonder if you can toe it in to make it go straighter better or adjust the caster. I think any fix would be an attempt to reduce the torque steer but have it pull the other way all the time...something you wouldn't want.
Although I don't have a great deal of power turning out of my engine (stock d16a6), I haven't noticed torque steer when I keep my hands on the wheel; only when I take them off.
Good luck, let us know if you figure out any fix.

Not absolutely sure but, I have heard that with adjustable traction bars like the z10's or the jim fab type setups, you can preload one side more than another to achieve less torque steer. I got my z10's a while back and I really like the way the car feels on the highway. With the factory arms and front cross member the car felt vague, but now it only takes two fingers to hold onto the wheel at 80.

What did the z10 setup run you, and where did you get it? Also is it just the radius rods it comes with or the whole deal? Thanx That sounds way cheaper than a LSD which is out of the question. Highway speeds arent bad its just 1st and 2nd.

heheh... you think you have bad torquesteer with an A6? try my old D16Y8 (strong enough to run 15.2's)... that thing required some wrist strength!

I have a feeling that tire width has a lot to do with being a cause of torque steer. I had stock size wheels and tires and the torque steer was very minimal and almost non existent until I upsized wheels to 17's and put 205 40's on them. I can feel it alot more than I ever did before. There is many other factors, But this is what I noticed.
i agree with broncoman here. the width of the tire as well as the tire design can lead to "torque steer".
i just put my kumhos back on my 99 teg which has the intermidate shaft setup and i still get "torque steer". the car is all over the road on the highway b/c the kumhos like to follow the road which one can think is torque steer.

i second the tires; w/ teh stock wheels/tires my car was fine, when I got bigger wheels & yokohama parada's my car likes to follow the grooves & bumps in teh road, on take off it almost feels like torque steer, but it's not
What would a LSD run for a Si tranny? If they even make one.
Quaife 850...
An LSD is the ONLY TRUE way to get rid of torque steer
I run BFgoodrich touring Ta's 195/60/14...screw 17's. I guess I'll deal with it cause that trans is not worth dumping 850 into for a LSD. It would make more sense to do a full b18a swap from a DA using the intermediate shaft. How is any b-series swap with torque steer? I would think little if any cause of the inter. shaft.....
what exactly causes torque steer (please don't just say torque), and does having a zc with a halfshaft just reduce it or totally eliminate it?
From what Ive put together it is the differential in our non-LSD trannys that cause it. I think the bulk of the power to the wheels goes through the right wheel.(passenger) I hate it.
