Noisy injectors? valves? B16
Hey guys!
As some of you know, I just did a B16 swap. Car runs great, idles really well, except that when I drive it it ticks quite a bit. To me, it sounds like the injectors. If the injectors are noisy, does this mean they're going bad?
Also, I haven't adjusted the valves yet, do you guys think that's what it could be? Maybe the valve clearances are off?
The ticking is loud because I have no sound deadening under the dash, under the hood, or on the engine bay firewall, but it seems louder than my brother's B16.
EDIT: The noise seems loudes between 2500-3000 RPM, cruising along (not switching gears).

If its a JDM engine, yes more than likly you will need to adjust the valves, I normally adjust them every 30k or so, or whenever they get kinda noisy. Injectors will make a slight tick noise, but it shouldnt be that bad at all.
Adjusting b-series (vtec) valves can be a bit tricky if you dont have good tools. but is do-able
specs are..
Intake: 006-.007
Exhaust: .007-.008

So you think it's probbaly the valves, huh AbaZ? I think so too. God knows how long ago they were adjusted. I'll have to look into that! thanks for the help!
It's very likly dude.. Most swaps we do I normally sell "valve adjustment" apart of the package, just because 75% of the engines have that annoying little valve lash tick. It wouldnt hurt just to try, or even throw a feeler gauge under just to see what they are at right now.
Good luck,
Jeff
Good luck,

Yeah I gotta wait until the engine is cold... ****; I think the earliest I can do it is wednesday. Leaving it alone for a few days won't hurt it, will it?
Btw... Love the avatar

honda engines are notorious for tickin
they tick a lil even after valve adjustment.... my Z6 does... and all engines i know do also....
injectors tick its not loud.... u can barely hear it... u need a doctors tetoscope in order to hear them
as for adj.... it not a prob driving it like that.... just dont abuse it or run too long(weeks)like that
