Default Amber bulbs in the gauge cluster

Im bored on spring break right now, I have 6 dollars, and was in my friends car the other day, he drives a 99 si.

I saw his gauge cluster and the climate control and the clock, i like that amber color.

I know that it has been covered lots of times on how to do it and all that. I have searched and it came up with lots of things.

My question is, I have a 99 ex coupe, what size bulbs do i need? What color is closest to the si amber? how many bulbs do i need? I have to find the bulbs at a walmart or an auto parts store, since they are close to my house.

Im sure I could of found this out through all of the posts, but im just being lazy.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. How do i take off everything to get to the bulbs?

Paint your bulbs with an amber model paint. Or you can color them with a permanint red marker. Both of those look good. I have pics of my cluster when I first did it, but I re did it and it looks ten times better now. I will post pics up later if you want me to. Cluster almost matches my 01 ITR cd player.

size 24 bulbs (forgot how many).

here are instructions on how to get to the bulbs: http://www.jdmfan.com/technical/cosmetic/whitegauges/

be careful when pulling your bezel out for the 1st time.

here's a post on an eg that you may find helpful: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=304289

hope it helps.

Do you know what size bulb the climate control takes and where that can be found in amber?

i've never changed the bulbs in my climate control, but it's supposidly size 74 bulbs (2 required). you can find light amber colored size 74 bulbs at pep boys (look for sylvania 74a bulbs... i think), but you will probably want to paint/sharpie the bulbs to get the amber/redish color that is in most of the amber climate control pictures.

So when you say I should color my bulbs with a sharpie pen, what color? Red?

And thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

I also agree that the spoon cluster looks very nice, but I cant afford one of those.

I thought I was going to get flamed for asking how to take off the gauge cluster to get to the bulbs, I just never took the cluster off before.

Thanks again.

yep, red. i used two coates (on a sylvania amber bulb) with a red sharpie and it turned out a color very similar to the picture above.
