Changed my gauge cluster&climate control bulbs to amber/red...Pics
I noticed a lot of guys latley have been looking for pictures of 5th gen civic's interiors with amber lighting so I figured I'd post my pics up and how I did it.
Firstly, I just bought the amber sylvania bulbs and did my gauge cluster....It came out an amber yellowish color, it looked alright. My next step was the climate control. Five 24's for the gauge cluster and one 74 for the gauge cluster. Two 74's were used for the climate control. Since I could not find any amber size 74 bulbs I picked up some testors orange model paint
Competition Orange#1628
and painted them. The climate control looked 10x better then the gauge cluster, it came out more of a reddish orange which is closer to what I was looking for. Then I painted the amber gauge cluster bulbs with this paint and it matched perfectly. Its been over a week now and it seems like the paint on the bulbs it holding up quite nicely. Here are the pics...excuse the blurriness in some, my buddy couldnt stop shaking lol.

damn tripod. no pics, whats you website? we can check the pics there. also tell me what you do to your 94 civic ex as it's the same car as mine. how many miles do you have on it? what do you plane to do before boosting it?
ah wtf they just worked......a friend of mine is hosting the pics, i'll have to ask him whats up when he gets out of school.
Right now it just has suspension(eibach sportlines/kyb agx, front strut bar), apexi rs cat-back exaust, advanced timing, apexi vafc(i got that for the intention of using it for the vafc hack) and I took the reseonator out of the intake lol. Thats it as far as performance for now. And I have a bunch or turbo parts sitting in a box(450cc injectors, side mount ic, std manifold, dsm o2 housing, crx resistor box, dsm bov) Im buyin the actual turbo and piping soon...either t3 or 14b. I have 134k miles on it
but the car is running perfectly and has been maticulously maintained. I may just change the timing belt, run a compression test to be safe before I throw the kit on...
EDIT: They work for me again
....if they dont just right click and go into properties and copy the url onto another page and they should show up

I saw the pictures and it looks great. Now what bulbs was it that you bought for the cluster? What is there size/model number?...
lol ya its a slushbox
Used to be my parents car so I got a deal on it that I couldnt pass up...The car itself is just way too clean. It should be fun with the contant spool-up
I'll most likely end up swapping trannies in the long run though. Here's a few recent pics

For the cluster i used 5 size 24 bulbs from sylvania, they can be found at just about any pep boys.
hehe damn someone caught it
....i shouldve repainted that one while i was back there but it was getting late when I realized it. I'l fix it eventually

Hey nice job! Looks great!
How long did it take you and was it difficult to replace the climate control bulbs?

Best way to do this is either buy the nipple covers from Honda, or get some of the cool translucent film that Mt3c sells on this board. It will take care of your clock perfectly!
Thanks
....it took me two tries to figure out how to get the climate control apart lol. I was having trouble popping the buttons off. There are like 4 screws you need to undo after you pull the radio out. One is on the bottom of the climate control towards the back, then 3 of them are up front under the climate control. Out of the 3 up front the middle one is very tricky since the head of the screw points toward to firewall. Once everything is undone and the buttons are popped off just slightly pull out the climate control so you can pull off the face. You dont need to disconnect it. There are like 4 tabs around the climate control that you have to undo in order to remove the face. Once the face is off you will see the 2 bulbs right there that you need to replace. With the way I put it back together( I didnt use all the screws
) I can probably take it apart and put it back together in like 10 mins.
The clock is next hehe..

u know what makes it really easy to get at those light bulbs? have some break into your car and hack up your dash. man u can get instant easy access to just about anything inside your dash. its absolutely SPIFERIFIC!!!
scotty - who is too lazy to take dash apart again to color lightbulbs and stuck to a life of stockness
