99 SI Instrument Cluster lighting
I recently swapped out the bulbs in the back of my instrument cluster for red led bulbs I bought at superbrightleds.com. My question is, why do all of the DIYs I come across call for one 194 bulb and 4 74 bulbs? I counted five in the back of my cluster.
Also where can I find the two smaller bulbs that go in the top of the cluster? I'm thinking one of them is burnt out because my temp and fuel gauges are both still dim despite putting in the new led bulbs.
Thanks!

No one's ever had to replace those two upper bulbs? I think I read somewhere that they're for illuminating the needles. My temp and fuel gauge needles are still really dim. Anyone?

Re: 99 SI Instrument Cluster lighting
I can't find them on any website, any diagram, any forum, etc. It's like no one has ever had to eff with these bulbs. They're hard to twist out because they're so small. I can see that the left one is working but I can't test the right one because once you twist it out, it loses its connection. Is there anyway to make the gas and temp gauge brighter? I can't see the needles at night and even with the leds in, the backlighting kind of sucks.
I've read somewhere about sanding stuff down inside the gauges to help and I've also heard about capping bulbs with condoms in order to diffuse the light but I'm not 100% about what that means. I appreciate any help.
