Default Just installed spoon intake and...

this past weekend i installed my spoon intake arm on my 99 si. when i get on the throttle the intake just roars. have others found that to be the case as well? i don't mind the sound of it, i was just surprised since i always hear people who keep their stock air boxes without the resonators say that a set-up like this is quieter than the short ram and cols air intakes.

what filter are you running?? also how would you rate (i know this is gonna sound dumb but eh) the loudness of the intake compared to others ie AEM INJEN etc..cause i know the stock intake you cant hear vtec for **** so just the arm made that big of a difference??

from experience... it is not loud at all with just the spoon intake arm. adding in a aftermarket drop in filter makes it a little louder but nothing (not even close)compared to an AEM CAI or a short ram.

who said i didn't know anything about other intakes. believe me, i did my research when looking for the best intake for my needs. so stop making accusations without knowing what you are talking about. i am asking specifically to people with this intake or something similar where you use the stock air box. i really don't care for most of the short ram intakes out there or the typical CAI like the AEM.

i am running a foam filter in place of the stock one. i can't comment on the sound of the intake in comparison to other intakes as this is the only one i've ever had.
i definitely can hear the engine now a lot better than before. i could always hear when vtec would kick in before, but now it is a lot more obvious.

I think the sound of the motor will vary with what type of motor you have. I can hear my engine a little more with the direct flow pipe but it isnt noticable over the exhaust. Compared to other intakes that friends of mine have, the stock si/ctr airbox with the spoon direct flow pipe is relatively quieter with better throttle response.

the throttle response is a lot better now. i am also running the stock exhaust, so maybe that is one reason why the intake just seems as loud as it does. thanks for the post
