Default <<extra battery for my starter?>>

sometimes when i play my set too long the starter just clicks, like there is not enough power left in the battery , i have an extra battery and im thinkin of putting it in the trunk and using it to start the car, i can wire it all myself, will use 4awg, would you recomend this?
is there a better alternative?
is it easy to wire?
im thinking of just running from the = to the starter and grounding the batt to chassis

i wouldnt want to make my alternater charge it, my friend has an overnight charger so i would recharge it every so often i guess....

thanks

good luck. give yourself 3 or 4 starts w/o a recharge and the battery will be dead. Your best bet is just start your car every 15 mins or so when you're listening and let it charge up

Get a deep cycle capable battery. Normal battery lose significant capacitiy each time they are drained. I have lost several batteries over the years this way.

I used to idle my car if I was turning the volume up high. Most alts can get out about 50% of capacity at idle.

Deep cycle is a deep cycle from what I understand. Just make sure the CCA's are high enough.

I've heard of a couple of companies like Prostart, Sears, etc... making batteries comparable to the Yellow Top for much less.

I have the svr. Fits perfectly, you just need longer hold down bolts. Most batteries do not fit in the civics/tegs battery spot.

Yes, check out SVR, Stinger (i think) or Optima, but they are all pretty much the same. What kind of car do you have?

If you connect your second battery to the starter, your alternator will still try to charge it. Most stock alternators cannot the handle the extra current demands of charging 2 batteries - it may burn out faster. If you're going to use a 2nd battery, get a good isolator so that your not draining the starter battery while you're enjoying your system with the engine off. An alternative to the isolator are high-current solenoids (or relays) that function the same way (http://www.stingerelectronics.com/st.../batteries.asp). Scroll to the bottom of the Stinger page. You can find a diagram too.
