yes. the vin number.

 

I think there is a stamp on the head as well. engine year can be different from the cars model year from what I have seen. For example, a friend got a B16 swap from a 2000 SI, and head had a stamp of 99 in a circle on the front above the header. HTH

Not all blocks have VINs guys.....

the stamp on the head is for the head
there is also a date stamp on the block telling you when it was made

 

where would this stamp be located?
also there are several stampings on the head
which one is the correct one for the date of manufacture

troo that. some civic motors(i think it was a DX or somthing) at work have no vins. i swear i look over the thing 3-4 times, still cant find a vin.

 

all 96+ blocks should have a VIN.

the date stamp should be on the back

 

What about for JDM motors?

 

JDM motors have no vin, which is why you have to rely on the date stamp

 

The VIN is on the tranny.
