Finding out what Year Engine
Hello..i just recently purchased a 93 Hatchback(the one that was on the classified forums) it has a B20 in it(Vtec...or at least the head) i need to know if there is any way i can run the engine serial number to find out what year its out of...gonna make it hard to buy parts for it if i dont know the year lol...thanks a bunch

i heard of a way u can find out the date on the head..its like a stamp in the shape of a circle..nd the stamp represents sumthin..im not quite sure...ill get back to u on that

On the front of the head, there should be these 4 circles with lines down the middle of each. The first circle will have 2 numbers. Example (9|6). That means its a 96 head. As for the block, w/o a VIN, I'm not sure.

the year is stamped in a circle on the exhaust side of the head. theres a couple of stamps on there look for the one that seems like a year [for ex. (9/9)] that would mean that the head was manufactured in 99 and corresponds to a late model 99 or more than likely a 00 car.
