Default short shifter?

Is that something which is cool and nice? Will it hurt the tranny? What is a good brand!?

My opinion of short shifters:

Unless you are going for one like the C's that places the shifter closer to the steering wheel, they are totally unnecessary.

I can already shift faster than the synchros with my stock shifter. Indeed, I have to force myself to slow my shifting hand down to avoid crunching. So why would I want an even shorter shifter?

It's expensive, but Cs is the best.. I want one too. I also would need an ITR shift linkage.. I don't think you can find it for less..

short shifters are gay.......you just end up messing up your syncros........the throws of the type r transmission are short enough......no real need unless your a hardcore "ri---acer" or something

Can someone tell me how this one is different from stock? It looks the same except not chrome.

eBay short shifter in my Civic roxors. I don't rail through the gears so it's not abused. OEM R shifter is fine with me.

See the silver bushing...it raises the pivot point up so that the stock shift rod angle of attach is retained.

Why is this important?...to get smoother engagement of gears vs normal stock shifter that just extend the pivot arm below the pivot point.

Stock pivots on a ball in a plastic bushing. The C's unit has a nice roller bearing instead. Also, the C's has a needle bearing where the shifter attaches to the linkage. The bearings make for nice smooth shifts, with a real "conntected" feeling.

The distance between the pivot point and where the linkages attaches is longer on the C's, giving it a short shift.

i always hear good things about C's but never have chance to try it =\

i have few questions here too, i have seen a lot short shiflters that u need to hold it when u drive in the gear... so probably just sux.. i think C's won't have that problem(?), but i heard ppl say that u don't have protection for the gear when u down shift at high rpm if u change to short shifter, which could make some damage is that true???

I had the B&M in my civic, and while it was the most precise and un-notchy short shifter I've ever felt, its physical size, in relation to stock was horrible. It was about an inch shorter, and because it had no bends, shifting into third was quite a task, when you're taller than 6' like me. Neuspeed shifters are absolutely horrible, and incredibly overpriced. I plan on chopping part of a spare shifter I have and welding it between the pivot and the linkage mount. That way I'll have OEM height, OEM stiffness, and shorter throws. I might even weld a piece between the pivot and the threads, to make it taller.

I have the C's that i got from leo. It is cool but not a really huge difference. Its nice to have but i would spend that money elsewhere on the car. IMO.
