How much boost for the h22a?
How much boost can the h22a from a 1999 lude handle? I have heard that its not the best platform for turbo charging can anyone let me know? or where I xan find out? thanks
8psi max on a stock h22a motor, given you have the proper fuel management upgrades (minimum of inline fuel pump and fmu). the reason for this being is the pistons, the ring-lands are very weak on the H series motors and are usually the first thing to fail.
A minimum of:
forged pistons
iron ductile sleeves
crower/eagle rods
new rod/main bearings
other misc gaskets
440cc+ injectors
engine management system
dyno tuning

you are correct, the open deck design is not the best for FI. The only way to "fix" the weak ringland problem is to resleeve the block and throw in some forged pistons. Expensive, but only real way to fix the problem. Good luck

Let's say you're running 7psi tuned on an h22a. everything stock.
Will it last? or is it only a matter of time before something goes even with the low (relatively) boost?
I was hoping to throw ~7psi at my stock h22 and keep it as a daily driver.

I have been reading a lot on the topic and been asking people who I know have a lude and they all have been saying pretty much the same thing. I am really looking to be pushing high boost so looks like I'll be building up the engine thanks eveyone!!
