you'll need some sort of FMU,
at least a B&M FPR,
if you got a bit more pesos, you can get a Votec FMU, they work great,
go ahead, while the engine is out, get new piston and rod,
work a bit on the head, like ss valves, valves springs and Ti retainer,
you will be able to boost a lot higher. on stock internal I think that 8 psi is probably not very far of the max you can go without having to return home in towing.
any blowoff valves??
wastgate ???
hope this help ,
see ya

I sold it, but I had a '91 CRX-si with a turbo. I ran it on the street, in autox and open track events for 6 years with a stock bottom end. It used an oil and water cooled IHI turbo, a air to water intercooler and a modified stock EFI system with an FMU and larger injectors. I ran 6-10 psi of boost depending on what I was doing with it. I never had a lick of trouble with it in those 6 years except one blown head gasket. The key to making the bottom end last is to keep it pretty rich and have VERY accurate ignition timing. Too much lead bends rods! Since I never had any problem, I can't say what the limit is with the stock engine, but I was never brave enough to run more than 10 psi. You can feel free to email me if you want to.
