Default Got a new engine (B18A), opinions on what to do?

Alright I recently, as in the last 24 hours, received a B18A motor from a friend of mine and was originally thinking of this a just a temporary thing to tide me over for a while. I drive a 91 CRX Si and was originally planning B16A built and boosted. I have been reading on and think I might be keeping the B18A and building it first. My question is should I go through the trouble of going LS/VTEC and turbo, or just turbo it and beef up the head with springs, turbo cams, etc.

It is definately not planned as a drag car. It will mainly be street with some weekend track time whenever I can get around to it. I'm looking for around 300-350 hp at the ground when all is done. Also I have searched already and I'm looking for some more specific information than what I have seen so far. Most has been for drag so far but its still been a good help.

Building an lsvtec will require some TLC and deep pockets, I should know I'm doing it right now. Then lsvtec turbo will be even more expensive, I should know i'm doing it right now. So if your not lookin for a track beast I'd just stick with the ls motor, t3/t04e and have fun with 300-350whp and save some cash.

A built b18a with a lot of boost will be more cost effective than a LS/Vtec turbo

Alright I have one correction to make, I just checked out the motor today and found its a B18B1 and not an A. Anyone else have any opinions on what to do?

not that much of a difference. I think the B18B has a hair more h/p and torque....(better designed head possably) can be used as OBD0 of course

Keep the LS and boost it...THen you won't have to worry about the high compression created with VTEC applications

Pistons and sleeves either way so not much to worry about there, sounds like everyones in agreement to stay LS, perhaps I just leave the head for last and see how much $$ I have left to spend. The main reason I was thinking to go without VTEC is just to keep it easy to tune, plus VTEC to me would be more for bragging rights since the gains would just be so-so from what I have heard.

Definitely keep the b18. Torque! Are you planning on just drag racing? B18s are great for autocross...

B18s sound awesome with a nice exhaust...

if its not a drag car, you'll be better off going LSVTEC. A lot of people bash the LSVTEC and say its not reliable, but only if you skimp. the VTEC head will make it more streetable, giving low end grunt and top end power. You could run a straight T3 turbo (less lag than t3t4) and still push 300hp.
