manual tranny fluid vs. motor oil
some peeps say use gear oil... guys at the shops and dealer say use motor oil... wat do u use in ur tranny gear oils. whats is better and will last longer. let me know thanks.
with people i have helped
in a general practice motor oil works fine, but if you are STARTING to get a grind or hard shift, immediatley switch to honda MTF.
ive seen it completley fix small grinds and hard shifts.
the reason i say use motor oil first, is MTf is anywhere from 10-15$ for 2 quarts. motor oil is 6$ for 2. 10w-30 works fine.

yeah, i use Mobil Oil now, but I am planning to switch to Honda MTF this weekend....the regular Mobil oil just doesn't seem to cut it with the really quick shifts (I seem to get small grinds....)

I'm using redline mt-90. Switching to redline mtl soon. Before that I used honda mtf. I wouldn't recommend that anyone use motor oil.
Yeah, I know that redline mtl is more expensive than some of the other stuff, but $7/qt. vs $4/qt doesn't make a difference when you only need 2 qts once a year.

I can attest to that. I had grinds in 2, 3, and 4 and after about a week of having changed the fluid, they were all gone. Go for Honda MTF. "Do it once, do it right."
