Default FI related! Karma came around to scammer!!!=)

Last May I sent $1000.00 to one Adam Hudson from Riverside CA, for a partial turbo kit. This was before I knew anything(also before I was an HT member), so I was looking for cheap pre-built kits.
Well, I sent the money via PayPal, and never heard anything from the guy again. On the 30th day, I filed the complaint, and crossed my fingers. Last August I got a call from the Riverside Sheriffs department concerning the case. Greg Fellows kept in touch with me once a month until I got a call tonight saying that TWO suspects were in jail and that legal action was the next step....
HELL YA, Im happy that they are in jail, but I would be even happier if I got my $ back...
Just thought Id share with everyone....

Good to hear that they atleast got caught. I think that the sketchiest thing about ordering things online or over the phone especially from private sellers. I have never gotten scammed but I have come real close a few times. What is wrong with people are there that many people in the world trying to screw people over in the world just to make some extra cash. I hope they can get your money back man.

I got one for ya. I had about 1300$ in the bank 3 days ago, Yesterday I took out 180$, and noticed that my balance was about 300$. So I asked where the hell all my money went, and the lady asked what I bought on ebay for 730$. I said, I didnt buy anything on ebay. So I had to call ebay, write tons of emails, and this is what I got back from ebay:

Hello Craig,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns about
your credit card.

We have recently suspended another account registered with your credit
card information. I have requested that the amount charged to your card
be reversed, if your bank accepts the reversal you should see the credit
on your account in the next 30 days. If your bank does not allow the
reversal, you will need to file a dispute or chargeback with your credit
card company directly to have your account credited.

If you have not already done so, we would highly recommend that you
contact your credit card company to report the matter and dispute any
additional charges that you have not placed. You may also want to
contact your local authorities to inform them of violations.

Should any of the parties you contact need further information regarding
activities on the site please have them contact us. We hope this
situation is resolved soon. I wish you success and good luck in all of
your future transactions, thanks for choosing eBay.

glad to see something positive come out, but doesnt paypal return your money?

also Boosted, was that a debit card or credit card, cause my credit cards will send a bill before taking the money out of my bank account. if its a debit card i would strongly advise of ditching that and getting a credit card for obvious reasons

obviously not...if you look in the user agreement, it says that refund is not guaranteed...*******. Then they continue to harbor known scammers for years, until the scammer is caught, or whatevet...paypal

Yeah, I have a few suggestions, ion_four.

Get someone local to where the guy used to live to go to the local county courthouse and examine back tax listings. These should be public record. You'll be able to see any real property he's owned (houses, cars, etc) and get addresses.

Then, you go knock on his (old?) door and his neighbor's doors and ask questions. You *will* turn up something.

I got really lucky because Evegeny Yurobe(95turbolude) got the ACTUAL kit that I was supposed to get. He payed via USPS money order, and therefore had his actually address. Ev contacted me, and basically gave me everything I needed to contact the Riverside Sheriffs department.
When I called them, they basically laughed in my face and said,"We can take your name and number to make you happy."
Good thing they did because a month later I got the call saying that they were investigating my case.
I think I got lucky in my case because I had three people contact me from HT in reguards to this case.
Heres some links from way back when:

Wish me luck on getting my money back, and I wish luck to whoever else got scammed.
ps...PayPal now offers a satisfaction guarantee for $5.75...go figure

To answer a question about my story: It was a debit card. I went to my bank today and my account blocked ( on me for not doing it sooner) I got a new card and # issued and my money will be reimbersed. But I emailed ebay back to see if they will tell me who stole my money (I doubt they will) And I also asked what the person bought. If they took 730$ from me they have better bought something good. So hopefully I will get some justice for the ******, but I know if I go to my local authorities, they will pretty much laugh in my face.

Someone tired to order a computer w/ my SS# once. They tried to put it on my debit card, but the bank wouldn't tell me who it was. Then I got my monthly statement which had the purchase order on it with their address...
