Common reasons for water in my trunk
I noticed that after a large rain storm (or in my case snow storm) a puddle of water appears in my spare tire well. I cannot find where it is coming from. The cardboard and carpet is soaked too.
What are some common problems? Tail light gaskets? Sunroof drain tubes?
Thanks

bad gaskets...there is a thread about that in the "moisture in tail lights" thread.
Here's the link https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=378920 that might help me.
OOh jes, my car is a 4 door if any other 4 door-er can relate.

I don't have moisture in my tail lights. I have a puddle in my trunk.

Hey everyone, I just walked by my car and noticed that the moisture that has been inside my taillights ever since I bought the car in June 2001 is now gone! It would seem that my new taillight gaskets did more than just fix the water leaking into the trunk. So even if you don't have problems with the trunk leaking, if you have moisture in your taillights (like tiny drops just inside the outer lens), make or buy new gaskets and your problem should be solved! If you don't want to make your own, buy a set from ragejed: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=378920

your tail light gaskets. most common problem. did you take off your tail lights for some reason and not replace them.
same thing happend to me. if you look in the trunk behind the right panel there should be a hose that should be connected to another hose that leads to a hole throught the chassis to allow water to flow outside the vehicle instead of the inside. if its not connect you obviously know whats gonna happen, the water will drain in the trunk. check that out and let me know what happens
I just resolved this problem like a couple weeks ago. . I'm pretty sure you need new gaskets. That fixed everything for me. There is someone on this board that is selling ones that he made that look pretty good and are cheaper. I ended up paying like $20 something each from the dealer.
the seam cracked on my gsr a while ago. it was right above the passenger taillight. Behind the light kinda. Hard to explain. Check that. I autox so the car gets twisted more than usual. All i did was fiberglass it up, and silicone the inside.
i have a 98 4door and i pretty much have the same problem as you. right side of carpet soaked as well as the board and there was a small puddle in the spare tire well. it was the right outer tail light gasket on mine heh. hope this helps you out
Ever been in a rear-end collision? A friend's Civic had been repaired, and there was one place where it looked like water leaked thru the trunk weatherstripping. Where the new & old sheetmetal were spliced together, it wasn't sealed properly. The channel thats alongside the trunk weatherstripping had a hole in it. On her car it was on the side, near the trunk hinge. I eventually found it by pouring water into that channel, expecting it to run downhill towards the taillight.
Ok everyone the problem is easily solved by removing your back seats, now the drunks you have to drive home cant take a whizzer in the back of your gizzer
