Default my car cant warm up

what is the problem, everytime in the morning, i cant warm up my car without it stalling on me. it only happens when its cold. it sits at really low rpm, then it stalls. like it'll try and struggle up, but doesnt. its not just only in the morning, its also when i leave my car somewhere for a while, and engine gets cold, my car will act up again.

My old EG did that, adjust your idle as high as you can and it will be better... I ended up just letting the car sit for about 5 minutes every morning and then it was fine...

Wrong way to go about it. There is a Fast Idle Valve that should allow extra air into the intake while cold to increase the idle. Fix that first. By raising the idle as you suggest will only cause problems when warm.

You should check your IACV (idle air control valve) as well. It should be located on the back of your intake manifold. Its a square metal box attached to it. Once you detach it, there should be a small circular netting, make sure that netting is not ripped or dirty. Just clean it out if its dirty.

Also are you running a chipped ECU? If so, what kind?

Not sure on the ZC, but on my stock '90 Si it's on the back side of the intake manifold towards the brake booster. A relatively large vacuum line runs into it and it has an electrical connector on it. It has a cover held on by two phillips head screws that can be removed to check/clean it out.

Ah, ok. I'm running the same Mugen ECU in my PR3. Just to let you know that it is common to have issues with a low idle/cold start, but once the engine warms up it runs fine. Also, when the A/C kicks on the idle drops low and sometimes the engine will stall.

I have the same problem also on cold starts, it feels like my engine will die if I don't give it gas. I just rev my car a little and wait for it to warm up, other then that, its fine.

Hope that helps.

sounds about right, because when my IACV went out the idle would fluctuate during the warm up peroid, then it just went belly up and it would fluctuate ALL the time....damn that was annoying, especially in Downtown L.A. with my RS*R exhaust...argh!

so you guys are saying its normal that it stalls when its cold? and i have to rev it a bit every time to keep my car on? and what about the issue with my headlights going on, my rpm drops under 500. but when headlights not on, idle is at 800. normal also?
