Default Help please! Car wont start

Car is 90 integra bone stock

Yesterday I was about a block away from my apt when it started to hesitate then it started to die, Finally it stopped running about 10 secs after it started running like ****. today I pulled the distributor cap and it looked ok as did the rotor coil pack looked ok too. also I replaced the fuel filter and the Fuel pump does seem to be working since the line was pressurized after I replaced the filter. I also pulled off the valve cover to ensure everything was at TDC and Timing belt was not broken.

When you try and start the car now it lets out a very small backfire noise only once then nothing (Also exhaust needs to be replaced so its loud when it was running)

Please help I need this car for work, What sucks is the engine was going to be swapped in may so I hope its something stupid that I may have overlooked .

Thanks

Basics - fuel & spark! You say the fuel pump is OK. You can hear it running for a second or 2 when you turn on the key? Do you smell unburned gas at the tailpipe after you try to start?

Pull a plug wire & check if you have spark. Coils & ignitors can fail without 'looking' bad. If good, then pull out your plugs & look at them. Wet, dry, black, grey, brown???

When you crank the starter, does the tach read anything or does it stay at zero?

i had the same problem... except that my distributor was out... i had the MSD modified cap changed out for the OEM one, but now i'm not running my SS coils. mine didn't start before, but now it does. i juss hope that this'll last, and not mess up my setup.

Thanks for all the help I got it running today. I replaced the cap/rotor/and the coil.
not sure if the coil was bad but I figured w/ 154,000 it was bound to go bad soon.

Anyways thanks again for all the help .
