Help please ! Car wont start
Car is 90 integra bone stock
Yesterday I was about a block away from my apt when it started to hesitate then it started to die, Finally it stopped running about 10 secs after it started running like ****. today I pulled the distributor cap and it looked ok as did the rotor coil pack looked ok too. also I replaced the fuel filter and the Fuel pump does seem to be working since the line was pressurized after I replaced the filter. I also pulled off the valve cover to ensure everything was at TDC and Timing belt was not broken.
When you try and start the car now it lets out a very small backfire noise only once then nothing (Also exhaust needs to be replaced so its loud when it was running)
Please help I need this car for work, What sucks is the engine was going to be swapped in may so I hope its something stupid that I may have overlooked .
Thanks

Sounds like your distributor. Mine did the exact same thing when it started to go, then when it finally WENT, all I would get is a POP from the exhaust. Is there any buildup around your rotor?
Have you ever replaced the cap/rotor- how many miles?

there did appear to be some build up on the rotor, No I have'nt replaced the cap or the rotor I was hoping It would be ok until I swapped. car has 154,000 on it.
BTW can you use a B16a Distrubutor or parts from it on the B18a cause I have 2 B16a distrubutors
do you think that I should also replace the coil pack while I'm at it?

Hopefully you can get away with just replacing the cap/rotor. In my case, I had to get a whole new distributor cause my bearings got fried. I would try 1 of those B16 dizzy's.
Your symptom sounds about like what happened to my '88 Integra years ago. It was the igniter - the part of the distributor that triggers the ignition to pulse the coil for a spark. It was covered by a recall.

Thanks for all the help I got it running today. I replaced the cap/rotor/and the coil.
not sure if the coil was bad but I figured w/ 154,000 it was bound to go bad soon.
Anyways thanks again for all the help .
