The number one myth concerning gasoline is that the higher the octane rating the more power contained in the fuel. This is 100% absolute crap. Octane rating is a measure of a fuels resistance to autoignition (detonation). Adding octane boost to your gas will do nothing but plug up your cat due to some of the additives in it. Save your money.

Yup, you cant just add a tank of 100 octane and expect an increase of XX amount of HP. You have to make a few changes to be able to take advantage of the higher octane.

But IMO I have heard of quite a few people saying that octane booster is pretty much useless, especialy on a stock or lightly modded car. If you wanna get a tank of 100+ octane just mix in some Toluene or Xylene along with some Marvels Mystery Oil (for lubrication).

check out this link to get the proper formula on how to figure out what mix you need to get 1XX amount of octane. But just for reference 5 gallons of Toluene averages $35, while a 50 gallon drum is about $450 (in my area anyways).

fyi, octane booster does not work, when it says it will add 3 points to your octane rating, it's proven to be .3 and not a full point, if you want a higher octane, try mixiing toluene with your octane, also, do a search, i answered this question about 2-3 months ago

Just don't think you can use 87 in a DOHC VTEC and keep your power. You run a lower octane, the ECU will notice the slight knock and retard your timing to compensate, which will cause a loss of HP

yup, the only time U need higher octain is if your getting knock/detination. If your not getting knock, then it will do NOTHING for your HP!!!!!! If your using 92+ octane then your not getting knock anyway (unless your FI or got new high compression pistons).

Trust me there has been studdies on this, you gian no HP!
