w/ my egt probe tapped into the wastegate hole in the turbo it would go to 820degrees celcius at the top of 4th. thats w/ 12:1 a/f and alot of timing taken out. If it was tapped into the manifold it would be 50 degrees hotter. so I really don't think there is a max egt its kinda relative. although under any circumstances if it goes over 900 its probably baaaaaaaaaad!
what is hi for boost?.I need to know cause mine is reading 1450F under boost.
I toke the car to the dyno and the ing. is ok and the ar/f is 12.5.
What can i do to lower the EGT.
I try advancing the ignition and retarding it but it does the same thing whit the EGT.
Help me.

I was under the notion that temperatures vary with setup. What is good on one car won't be good on another. I know you can use it as a general gauge, but isn't comparing temperature from one car to another car not very accurate in terms of how it's running? Am I off in this belief?
Generally speaking though, around 1200 degrees F at highway cruising speeds and 1450 degress F at full boost is considered normal right?

so what can i do to take it down i i retarded the ignition and advanced and does the same thing whit the Egt. and take some gasoline and put some and still the same. that's why i got to the dyno in the first place butthe car still te same.
dude you need a guy to tune your car properly .
if you advance timing you will lower your egt but careful you can blow your setup very easy if you dont know what your doing!! adding fuel would be your best bet if you dont have experience!

cruising at 70 it's around 650 celcius, at WOT i'm around 700-720 celcius.
part throttle cruise would be around 650C for 40mph sidestreet traffic.
when i went WOT in 4th gear, the EGT temps actually DROPPED from the extra fuel, down to about 700C and climbed to 720C as I approached redline.
I am guessing things could get really hot over 750C at WOT in 5th gear for a top speed run. Now with a turbo, i try to boost for only brief periods of time in 5th gear (under 10 sec. for passing) since its just too much stress on the motor (from my ultra conservative perspective).
I have my egt probe tapped in the manifold's collector, 6 inches away from the head. I get readings of 1400F cruising the freeway at 80mph, and under full boost in 4th I usually do pin it at 1600F, af far as my egt gauge goes. When I got it tuned, I ran a a/f of 11.8:1 across the whole graph, and there was no activity on the knock sensor either.
