Default b20b or b18c?

Which way would you go and why? It's going in a DC for every day relieable driving. I would like the numbers between 215 and 230whp.

are going to go b20vtec or stay with the stock head

boost or nitrous an option

a properly built b20vtec would get you there pretty easily....

the b18's will work too with a good amount of compression and good cams

no one is gonna able to help you if you don't let them know what your plans are...

Boost will get you 230 whp way easier and cheaper but i dono what you want

for everyday i would go b18c its more reliable but the b20/vtec would make a lil more power. its your choice both are good

B18C(japan) would be my choice. B20B/Z has way less power but a hell of alot cheaper in price. It really depends on how much your willing to spend, and what things you got in mind for the engine TURBO, SUPERCHARGE, N/A, NITROUS(not NOS lol) things like that.

well if its for everyday reliablity i'd just go with a b18c. dont have to worry about the b20/vtec conversion, drops right in. but if you have the money to buy a b20 block and a vtec head, redo the gaskets and do your timing belt / pump while its out of the engine bay, that would make it pretty reliable. transmission~wise, alot of high way driving and not racing LS tranny, alittle racing GSR tranny, alot of racing go Si.

What kind of motor do you have now? Give us some information on what you are looking for. Possible your budget. What kind of driving you are planning on doing, and most importantly do you own a feline American?

Your best bet is through research. Everyone in here is going to have an opinion as to which setup they THINK is best for you. In the end, it's just an opinion. There are simply too many variables to give you a definite answer. Through research you will find which setup fits your budget and goals the best. You need to ponder a few questions in order to start this adventure....

1. What is my budget?
2. What do I want to use the car for?
3. What are my goals?
4. What is my mechanical ability?
5. Are my goals realistic if i want to run a stock block daily?
6. etc...

Anyway, you see what i'm getting at. You need to have an idea of what you want from this setup and go from there. There are plenty of resources on HT which will help you to answer the questions that will arise from your search. Use what is available and make an informed decision...dont just let the populus decide what is best for you

My buget is around 4500 for entire motor.
I want to drive it everyday, and want ac ps etc.
I would like to have 215whp, or close to it.
I will not be racing, except maybe at an ocasional trafic light!
I also need to do the susspention and fix a litttle rust on the quarters.

I have a 94 LS manual, it is bone stock.

PS. I was thinking about a k20A swap! but everythings expensive.

honestly with all the facts you gave us I would have to say neither!

I would rather rebuild the ls that comes with your ls stronger and get either a turbo kit or put together a custom kit. that way you would have spent most of your cash towards a new engine not a used one and would have a much stronger powerband with alot more tq and can easily achieve your goal and be able to up the output easier after with a turbo ls rather than being stuck with what an N/A can offer!

just because its turbo doesnt mean its unreliable all you need is a strong bottom end and good tune IMO!

if you want a reliable motor. just throw in the GSR with the GSR tranny. itll be fine even with gas prices. just dont speed and get into vtec so much..
