Proper step for Clutchmasters stage 3
I used to run a stock clutch with a comptech flywheel and when the stocker went bad I had it replaced with a Clutchmasters stage 3. After getting the car back I had to adjust the rod for the master cylinder all the way to get the clutch to engage properly. With it adjusted to the extreme like that there is a loud noise coming from the tranny when the clutch is out. It sounds like a bearing or something. Do Clutchmasters' use the same step height as stock or do you think the machine shop didn't do it right. I searched for specs from the company and was unable to come up with anything. It was also suggested to me, that because they had to machine some scars and knicks out of it, that it may now be too thin and I could use a spacer to change the point at which it engages. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks
Just got off the phone with a pretty cool guy at Clutchmasters. He said they use the same step height (.110 in.) as stock. He also mentioned that using a spacer might mess up the way the starter lines up with the teeth on the flywheel. Anyone heard of using a flywheel spacer on a B series motor and whether or not it fucked anything up? The person who suggested it is using one on a V8 motor.
