Default Throwout bearing problem.... question??

I'm hearing some squeeking from the front of the car when clutch pedal is out. Since I went to colorado and back it's dissappeared but the sound has changed.. I was told by my neighbor who is a car diehard nut, that it's prolly the thowout bearing and that it's resting against the pressure plate and it should be replaced.

1. does this mean that i will have to replace the pressureplate?

2. perhaps bearing's lubrication is toast and just needs replaced?

If I have to replace the PP...

Clutch recommendations?

1. clutchmasters stage 4
2. ACT stage??
3. clutchnet stage 2 or 3?
4. Exedy??

needs to hold approx 12-14psi worht of HP/TQ

above is an estimation so dont kill me!!

I have a CM stage 3 and love it. I got the CM lightened flywheel too. The pedal is just a little stiffer than stock because it has a heavier duty pp. The clutch engages like stock though. I think you would find the Stage4 "grabby" and for street drivability would not like it as much as the Stage 3.

nah unless there is something wrong with the PP then it does not need to be replaced. You just can do the bearing if that is all that is needed. But you still have to drop then tranny so if the clutch is less then 50% you might want to consider having it replaced cause of the labour cost.

I am having the same squeeking sound from my car. Where are you getting the work done. Maybe we can get a discount if the two of us go to the same place.

I have another option for you. A very good buddy of mine owns a company called Clutch Specialties. His name is Brian Holtcamp and his number is 714-525-4272. Tell him that John from ProDrive gave you the number and I am sure he can hook you up with what ever you need. I have one of his clutches and lightened flywheels in my Prelude and love it. He can do anything from daily driven to all out cintered iron full race, or anything in between. Give him a call, you won't be dissapointed.

The throw out should not be contacting the pressure plate when the pedal is not pushed in. There is supposed to be a little play so the throw out is not spinning all the time. You should be able to slowly push the pedal in and feel the TO contact the PP after 1/2" or so of pushing the pedal in. If it was incorrectly adjusted and was spinning all the time then there's a good chance it's bad and may have worn a groove in the PP.

Since it's such a pain in the *** to get the tranny out I'd say do it all. You don't want to have to rip it out again in 20k miles to replace the disk or pilot bearing do you? Just make sure you adjust the pedal so that the TO is not contacting the PP when you install it.
