the motor has to be either the same year or newer than the car its installed in, and has to pass smog... i believe that is all you need...

ull need all the legal documentation..bill of sale with all the # s on it

then u ull need all the calif. required smog equipment install d in the OEM positions and fuctioning correctly..id have ur motor install d and smog in another state then bringing it out here..atleast another state would have state d ur motor and car is legally urs

when u get out here ull have *i dont know off-hand* how many days..could be 90 to register it..while here do a research, visit some smog shops and find out exactly what ull need to do..if ur in the $$$ s have a honda or acura dealer check it out..but alot of dont know anymore than u do

but, ull have ample time to find out what needs to be done..dont hit and miss it..try to make sure everything is in place and working so ur not having to make multiple trips to the DMV or ref

You can take it to the state referee and get one of those certified bar things... It states the engine is a legal replacement and you should have no problem smogging it. You just have to make sure all the smog stuff is hooked up properly and make sure you have your papers saying the engine was bought legaly.
