Default Problems with Sohc Engine, Help plz..

*I posted this in FI, but I though I might get more help here, I need help ASAP* I am scared to death

Ok, I did all the foglights install today, didn't touch any of the engine stuff, didn't connect any wires.
Then after around 2 hours, I went out and started my car, it was pretty hard to start, but it started without any problems, no sound, normal driving for around 15 mins, no problems at all.
After picking up my gf, then i boosted for a little bit of my car in first and second gear, and I didn't redline it (maybe I did, but I am 90% sure I didn't), then drove around 5 mins, the car started to act strange....

The car bogs... the exhaust made strange sound, very scary that I thought I blew my engine, i pulled over, checked the engine bay, no oil, but i can hear something very LOUD sound, it's like "pa pa pa pa pa", and i think it's coming out from the engine or turbo... ****....

so i restarted the car, still acts the same, sometimes the idle drops to zero but didn't stall...

i went home park my car, no sound at engine bay, BUT the exhaust makes a strange sound, it's like somthing's poping..... *pop pop pop*

no obvious color smoke...

what can happen?? help please !!

i am very very scared !!!

thank you!

sounds like you're detonating. What heat range plugs are you running? How old are they?

Pull them out and look for pitting on them.

Also, if you have a fuel pressure regulator, which I hope you do, check and make sure all the vac lines are secure and hooked up

it sounds like it. My room mates Turbo ITR was detonating like crazy. Put in new plugs, retarded timing 2 degrees further...and no problems. Check the plugs for pitting, that will tell you whether or not that's it

that sucks. T least you got it figured out. And there's no way the piston could hit the plug unless it broke off with the rod. It was just bad detonating. New plugs, better eninge management, and you'll be set.

not all the cylinders are going to detonate at once. Wear and tear happens differently. Just make sure you check the plugs like once every 1000 miles with turbo and replace about every 10k. Keep up with the maintainence also.

The Blue box should be fine, but if you can afford something like Hondata 2 or 300B, you'll put down more power and have a more reliable setup.

why not? As long as the plugs were replaced or re gapped, try it out.

If you keep detonating, replace plugs, check your timing, make sure you have good air/fuel, etc
