Default NHRA RULES (wheel speed sensors)

with all wheel speed sensors prohibited in the hot rod class, would the speed sensor on the tranny be illegal? or is it allowed you just can't use it for tracion control!

The speed sensor in the tranny is allowed. To use traction control you have to have two speed references. Front wheel speed (to see spin), and vehicle speed. You can use the tranny one though.

So Tony, let me ask you this. I really wanted to set up my anti-lag and step off a sensor we were going to make on the axle. It would engage when it sees no movement in the axle. So your saying that you CAN run a vehicle speed sensor from the trany/axle if you dont have it off the back as well. I just didnt want to have tech issues down the line so we wired it regular with the hand momentary button but it would have been cool to make it super user friendly and make it one less thing to think about.

And not that I care or anything but using the stock speed sensor is still a speed sensor and the way the rules read I think its illegal?? But yeah, you would need the sensors on the back wheels to make the traction control work as well.

as far as I understand the rules, the ONLY speed sensor allowed is the oem vss.
