Dyno Vs. Road tuning
Just finished tuning the car with a mechanic which uses the road to tune the Apexi power FC. Today I fitted an exhaust and need to re tune so........
There are many different views as to road vs. dyno tuning. Sure road will give a true accurate tuning but the dyno can achieve smoother tuning.
What do you guys think?
Thanks for the imput

Partial throttle tuning on the road is fine. Hard to know if road tuning netted you the most power at WOT without a dyno to quantify the curve. YOu can get close though. Are you using a wideband or the stock O2 sensor?
Are you on the power FC mailing list?

street tuning/partial throttle - its really up to how good your tuner is, for n/a application this isn't necessary. and whatever you do, use wideband O2.

I usually do both on customer cars ... I use the gtech pro on the street tune session and log everything a clean up using the actual dyno plot from the gtech .. comes out fairly accurate ... this is for fuel and spark tunign only, cam gear tuning DYNO only for more practical reasons.

what we do is slap on the wideband and tune the hondtas on the rd for partial throttle and full throttle on the highways and make most of the adjustments.
then go to the dyno to clean up the fuel maps more and do the fine tuning to the timing maps to get the full hp
partial therottle takes too long and would cost a fortune to do on the dyno . . im poor and cant afford that **** , dyno time alone would pay for my next mods.

if your looking for good "road" testing find a dynoshop that has the ability to do load testing. Load testing allows a steady state of load at a preset RPM, speed or percentage of brake pressure. This is used with various race car groups to better tune for performance under braking and accelerating out of braking which is ideal for track setups or people who want better part throttle response or stronger power when accelerating out of cruves, etc...
