The reason why im asking is because the transmission just blew in my 90 integra. it has 170k miles on it. I just had the transmission oil replaced and my mechanic said it had gear oil in there but is supposed to have motor oil. he replaced it with motor oil a week later the transmission blew there is a hole in it and all the oil leaked out. A friend told me that the transmission takes motoroil and the gear box takes gear oil. Is this true or are they both the same?

the transmission takes MTF (Manual Transmission Fluid)....whoever said you should use motor oil is a complete retard

You tranny probably blew from using motor oil in it........

hahah.........gearbox is synonomous with transmission.........they are two different terms for the exact same thing

please stop with the false information, retard. MTF and typical motor oil are very similar in composition, motor oil will be fine in a transmission. however, i would choose honda MTF over motor oil.
