Need To Know If This Price Is Fair? B18C1 Sleeved
This guy is selling me a brand new b18c1 blocked sleeved by rs, bore 85 mm. He is asking 1600, is that a good price? includes crank...
oh ya he was tryin to get me to go all motor, saying that turbo is not for streets. his reason being that they can't hook up well, made for track. wahtever, anyways he is all trying to get me to go all motor saying that it will take out turbo cars guaranteed. i thought he hated turbo cars, then i ask him if he likes boost. he says yes, I got a 800 hp turbo honda running on alcohol, but the my experience i don't think there is any point in having a turbo car on the streets. anyways wanted to know if this guy is tryin to bs me, he sounds like he knows what he is talking about, he has a alot of tech info. basically he was tryin to tell me n/a hp is better pound for pound power.
*anyways i dunno, i was wanting to go boost route, **** i dunno what i want to do, im so undecisive right now. hearing different **** every which way, done bunch of research but still dunno. you guys tell me...

it s not that great of a buy..
you can usually find cracked sleeved blocks for liek 300, send it to get sleeved at ge or rs machine for somewhere in area of 700 to 800...
this will allow u to choose what u want to do FI or NA

ya i put out a ad in classified for b18c1 block, bare or complete (cracked or not). this guy emails me this offer. ya and he doesn't really want to go any lower
oh ya and i asked him how much he would charge to complete the block, fuel pump, bearings, pistons, rods, etc....complete shortblock. he quoted me $3350 including the block, he is using probe rods, and je pistons. that good? or he tryin to rape me?
I got my B16a block for free after looking for a month. Right now it's at Golden Eagle being resleeved, decked, honed, bored, etc.
You really don't want to run an 85mm block with a turbo. IMO it's too weak.
The problem with this block whether all motor or turbo is you can't control your piston to wall clearance unless you find pistons somewhere between .003 to .004 less than the exact bore of that block.

ok, so ur saying its not good for boost/na. i was planning 84.5 bore, deciding on which block to go with gsr /or ls. and are oil squirters mandatory on ls block, heard its just for longevity of the motor, life.
i'm not going with a big bore block next. I had a JG 84mm block and damn sleeve sunk and crack block between sleeves 3-4. Now i'm looking for another b18c1 block for next to nothing. Next shop to get my business is going to be GE.
