Question for the racers... what all do i need to mount a fuel cell in my 93 cx?
Ok, i got a SX inline fuel pump and i want to run a 5 or 8 gallon fuel cell.

Please let me know so i know what exactly to order.
I know it comes with a pickup and to buy mounting kit.
All help is appreciated.

up up up... come on i need to order tis soon... none of my drag race buddies run a cell yet.
You can get a tape measure out to figure out how much SS braided you need to get from the cell to the pump, from the pump to the filter, from the filter to the rail, and from the fpr back to the cell. Also check what size fittings you need on your cell, filter, pump, and rail. Once you have the sizes go to ANplumbing.com and figure out which shape of fitting you will need to attach the SS braided line to each fuel component.
1. rip out stock fuel tank
2. shave gas cap door(optional)
3. mount pump where stock fuel tank was.
4. mount cell in wheelwell. 10gal rci is cake, and its cheap
5. get your hands on aeroquip catalog.
6. run -10 to pump. 3ft.
7. run -6 to filter and rail. 7ft
8. run -6 all the way back from the regulator. 10ft?
9. dont forget the rollover vent

The lines should come off the lower rear of cell, into filter then into pump. Use -10 to go from cell to filter to pump and -8 to come from pump to fuel rail. Use the copper bracket mounts from home depot to mount lines at bottom of car inside the grove and away from exhasut. 8 feet of hose is enough as you can use your stock return to drain back into cell.
Depending on the cell you get, try ot get one slose the height(depth) of the stock gas tank you can use the stock fuel leveler or then you need to get one that fits ... its dangerous to use pressure drop to determine fuel level before fill up.

what needs to be done to have 2 fuel cells? like an aftermarket 5gal for race gas and stock for pump. so you can toggle between the 2 w/o having to drain the tank? thanks
Isnt running a stock return line going to somehow be a bottleneck? I was told that you have to, or at least should also upgrade your return line when you install an upgraded fuel system. Was I misinformed?
Would you elaborate on this...

LOL .. I should invest in typing classes ...
- stock honda fuel return line is good to aorund 650hp, I only upgraded the feed lines with bigger -8an and the granatelli pump. Some people play it safe and do the complete system including return, I didn;t and drove a 500+whp car for 4 years almost daily.
- when upgrading with aftermarket fuel cell people forget all about the fuel level sender until after the fact when everything is installed and working properly only to realize ooops when do i fill up - oh ok I fill up when I see my fuel pressure guage inside the car(if you invested in one) starts showing lower fuel pressure, that means more slosh when fuel at low level and pump starves. This is how people tell when to go fill up again. I suggested getting a cell almost the same depth of the stock honda tank so you can contrapt your stock sender to the new fuel cell ... if not then you can get a standard one that Jegs sells and fit it in the cell like the V8 boys do on their street car.

i thought you had to mount the gas tank recesed into the body in order for it to be legal in sanctioned events...
I believe what the rules say is that you have to mount the cell to something that attches to the frame.
simpler alternative would be to weld a sump on stock tank ./.run lines....weehee , stock leveler and reliability
