Default 95 EX Coupe vs. 93 LX Sedan... Differences?

I just finished putting brakes on my stepbrother's 95 EX Coupe. On test driving it, it handles MUCH more differently that I expected.

I expected a slightly stiffer ride than my sedan.

The Coupe was much stiffer (I like this.) and a bit more tail happy. (Took a bit of getting used to, but I like that too.)

The power difference wasn't very noticalbe though... Maybe a bit more low end torque, and a bit more power across the entire band. The transmission gearing, however seemed different. The clutch was a piece of crap. Needs mroe adjustment, but I dodn't feel like adjusting his clutch just for one drive.

Can anyone tell me the differences between these two cars, and what can be swapped?

Differences that I know are obvious:

Engine - 1.6L VTEC vs. 1.5L Non-VTEC
Body - 2 door vs. 4 door... Extra length... Duh... And the Sunroof
Wheels - 185-60R14 vs. 175-70R13
Ride height - Lower vs. Higher (Or was this an optical illusion due to the wheels?)

So what else is different? Shocks? Spring rates? Suspension geometry? Brakes?

As far as what engines can be swapped into the two cars......

Any Integra engine or Civic engine or prelude engine can be swapped into either car you mentioned just fine, and now days with relative ease. The list is very long, but the B18C1 and 5 will both fit, the B16's will fit, the H22, H23, the B18B1, etc. etc.

Your ride height was probably an optical illusion, and the suspension geometry, etc. will be the same on both cars. I think the EX coupe may have better spring rates, but don't hold me to it. As far as swapping goes, any suspension form any 3G Integra can be swapped in its entirety to either of the cars you mentioned.

As far as brakes are concerned, that will be different. The EX coupe that was equipped with ABS will have 4 wheel discs, and the Lx sedan will not have ABS or 4 wheels discs. You will have drums in the rear. I'm not certain though, if the front brakes are any bigger on the Ex though.

Hope this helps. Also, do a search on archived topics, and chances are this has been gone over in greater detail than what I have provided.

Wrong. All G5 Civics with ABS had 4-wheel discs.

oh I stand corrected then. I just thought that was odd because my Ex coupe has ABS with disc in the front and drums in the back I have a 2k1. my bad, I am wondering why they put discs on the back for those years and not the others?

It's a different generation. In the 95's generation, that model and the Si were the "performance" Civics, so they would be equipped with all the nice stuff, like the 4 wheel discs. In the 6th generation of the Civic, the performance model was the Si with the B16 (like I'm telling you something you didn't know) and the EX, even though it is still as fast as the 95 EX was not any more considered the performance version.... so the 4 wheel discs went down the tube, I would assume to save on costs.
