Does it matter when you put the mounts on?
I'm anxiously awaiting my B16 swap from passwordjdm.com, in the mean time I'm clearing everything out of my engine bay, sanding it down, cleaning it, and putting some coats of black on it. Obviously after I do all this I dont want to play swing the engine and bash the hell out of my freshly painted bay. What I'm imagining is take off the throttle body, distributor, and what ever else sticks out. Lower the engine down into the bay with no mounts and then put each mount on and bolt it to the frame. I might have to mount the back first before lowering it, anyone have any suggestions for making this easy?
I see no reason for you to take the distributor off, or the throttle body. Just don't drop the engine in at 100mph, drop it slowly and have a friend guide it in. You could drop it in enough then you could put the mounts on. And the only mounts that have to go in before the engine is in, is the back one. An for the side mounts, the tranny side mount is alot easier to do with it off, you first lower the trans alittle lower then the mounting point, then you put the mount on the trans and bring the trans up. And for the other side mount, there is really nothing its going to bang into other then the motor mount mounting point. So to make this all clear, just lower the engine real slow and you will be fine.

Well I always take the throttle body off because I've cracked a TPS before. Sounds good, I'm going with the HCP 4 mount so I'll have a front too but I've put that on last many of times.
take the dizzy off its easy to put back on and soooooooooooo incredibly easy to break. Don't take a chance you'll shoot yourself if it gets messed up
