Maybe silly...how do i remove wheel weights?
I want to paint my GSR rims but the previous owner had the tire shop put weights on the inside and outside of the rim. I don't want to paint around them. After I take them off I should get them rebalanced with no weights on the outside, right?
You should be able to pry them off. They just have an adhesive tape on them. The ones on the outside can be pulled off with some pliers. You should get them rebalanced with weights on the inside.
you need weights on both sides most of the time. there is a tool to take them off, but it basically is used to pry them off.

What? If you put weights on both outside and inside of the rim you are dynamically balancing the rim and tire. If you put weights on the inside you are statically balancing the rim and tire.
If you remove X amount of ounces, you are going to throw the rim and tire out of balance thus CAUSING a bumpy ride.

So when I get them rebalanced should I ask the shop to dynamically balance using tape weights? I've heard that those come off when heated by the brakes. And when you say both sides is this all inside the rim? I can't picture tape weights on the visible side of the rim.
Don't use tape weights. Static balance your rim if you don't want the weights to be showing.
haha
use this to remove weights
