Default Quick Release Steering Hub?

Not for an R really, but i'm sure quite a few peeps have these so i was wondering whats a good brand to go with. I just ordered a Spraco ring steeting wheel (no hub) for my CRX, and i'm looking for a quick release aftermarkt hub to go with it.
Just trying to keep the ride from getting stolen.. any advice?

Tks

Ismar

I have the Techniq Unit, it`s fine. Dan Phan sell some sort of detachable hub too.

http://www.smartracingproducts.com/

You should do a search in this forum and the Road Racing forum. When I was researching this there was plenty of information.

Probably the only unit that is sold to the public that passes rigors of motor racing. I wouldn't trust Tecnik stuff... looks to have too much steering play.

I got the SMART RACING unit too and it is very good quality

As far as "play" goes, it is VERY minimual and not noticeable when driving

Ismar, if you want to meet up so you can check it out let me know.

The only play I've noticed w/ my Smart QR is front to back movement of the wheel... which is very minimal. There is no play as it turns the steering shaft.

I too am a user of the Smart Racing quick release. I like it a lot except for the price. The day after I bought it I saw that LTB Motorsports sells one that looks identical and at half the cost.

Check the quick release at the bottom of the page:
http://www.ltbmotorsport.com/ltbmoto...quicrelhu.html

I would be willing to bet that both hubs are made by the same company, only Smart Racing engraves their version with their name.

That's not identical. I'd rather have a splined joint than a hex joint. Much cheaper unit... harder toalign straight.

Yea, thanks for posting the link. I saw that page before and couldn't remember the name. I was pissed when I saw it because I paid WAY too much for the Smart (like $50 more) and it looks like the same damn thing

Whatup Jeff.

tks for all the info guys.. i have narrowed it down to a few companies now

Smart Racing Products, Techniq Unit, Sparco (I just found this last nite), Signal Auto, but i also heard "Top Fuel" makes one, but i dont know anyone who carries their products and couldnt locate their website either on any search engine i have tried using.

Dan, yeah i would be interested to check it out in person sometime... not a rush yet as i still have to transfer the car into my name, and sell the EF i bought.. then i can start getting parts for mah EGG

Bringing the steering wheel closer to the driver is a good thing.

Although those of shorter stature may not feel the same way. But they have bigger problems to worry about, like seeing over the dashboard in a lowered race seat. j/k

Upgrade motorsports and Signal Auto also have their own versions.
Upgrade motorsports has been selling them for years.
