Default Help! shifting problem....used search

shifting is notchy in all gears but really has trouble going into 3rd and 4th at higher rpm's especially after car is hot. changed tranny oil, no short shifter, new shifter bushings. could it be the clutch? it is an exedy with 30k on it.

3-4th Syncro is probably fried. I think an exedy will last longer that 30k unless you beat the everliving hell out of it.

it isn't butter in any gear anymore. is it common for more than one gear's syncro's to go at the same time?

does it grind, or just feel like mush when you shift?

Seems unlikely that all your synchros went at the same time. That's why I'd suspect the clutch. If its getting thin it might be warped. Then it drags & doesn't COMPLETELY disengage.

Not really. It's usually the 3-4syncro that goes. Are you experiencing any clutch chatter or problems disengaging? Mushy pedal feel?

no grinding or problems staying in gear. Like just really notchy for the most part, but if I bring it close to redline sometimes the shift just won't go into gear. Feels like if you were just sittng in the car idling and tied to put it in gear without pushing in the clutch. It just won't let you. no slave or master cylinder leaks, fluid is full and was bled not too many ages ago.

Sounds like Synchros...
