Default Question about Motor Swap(JDM TYPE R)

I have a 93 Hatch and I am looking into swapping a JDM Type R motor in but need to know a couple things. The block of the motor should say B18C5 right? Not just B18C, thats the JDM GSR right? The place I am having do the swap said the motor will have under 30K and cost less then 5G's to swap! Doesnt that seem cheap? What else should I look into? Should I just get the JDM GSR. Thanks guys!

1) no it will just say b18c. no JDM engines have the designating number at the end.

2) that price is about right.

Joe's right.

C5 is only a USDM engine code.

The JDM R's are B18C.

Also the way you can tell the difference between the JDM gsr and the type r motor is gonna be the intake manifold if you didnt know. The gsr will have the dual stage manifold and the itr the single butterfly manifold. Also the red valve cover might give it away.

Sweet!!! The reason I thought it was hella cheap a friend of mine who is in the Navy In Virginia Beach, just bought a JDM GSR motor and Tranny from some place in San Diego and it ran him around 5000 just for the motor. Did he get hella screwed or what? Sounds like it! How many People have a 92-95 Htach with the JDM TYOE R motor? What kind of times should I be able to get?

usually R can be had for about $4000-4500 add to that installation and you're @ around $5-5.5k. don't think it sounds out of ordinary

just check what you're getting.
block stamp B18C, single butterfly intake (b16a/ITR style), PR3 head, usually red valve cover (not real good way to tell anything), head year stamped 95 to 01, nothing older. tranny must have LSD if you can take a look at the flywheel (stock piece is shaved). P73 ECU.
