Just have them email you a pic of the engine code. Make sure you can tell that its the same car though. Too many shady people out there.

Only the USDM blocks say "B18C5"
Here is a big one to check. If your getting the complete swap with transmission, take a look into the gearbox where the axles go (if the axles are in there, REMOVE THEM). If you can see through the hole to the other side you have the LSD gearbox. If cannot see through, sombody has switched the tranny with a NON LSD one...

check the for the code first, then at the manifold, and then the valve cover!

what about the head???? i mean someone could have taken a ITR/CTR block and put a b16 or gs-r head on it....
not trying to bring em down just trying to make sure this guy doesnt get ripped off
is there anyway to check for the head to make sure its authentic, like on my z6 head it P08 or something stamped on the front of the head right above the exhaust manifold, like where the header bolts up to the head.

Well . . as it stands . . the lady is asking 8000 and its a 1994 HOnda Civic Hatch with 88xxx on the body. It also has a skunk 2 exhaust, stage II clutch, rota slipstream rims w/ tires, suspension, carbon fiber hood, and a perfect championship white paintjob. The type-r flosses the engine bay quite well w/ a limited slip. She is also trailering it to indiana as well. That sound like a good deal??

You might be able to talk her down a bit, but then again it sounds like she babies the crap out of this car. It would also cost a lot more than $8k to do all that yourself, and a 94 with under 100K on the chassis is rare. I would go for it.

hhhmmm 8,000 is alot of money for a car you know this person beat the crap out of. But you are going through a dealer so have a warenty just in case. If anything big is going to go wrong you would be able to tell pretty quick. Also if you do go for it bring it to a good mechanic or someone you know good with cars to look it over(commpression test, leaks, ect...)

You can change a valve cover in about ten minutes, Skunk2 has a IM that looks like an ITRs, so neither of those is a great way to tell. The Green paint on the head, a PR3-3 stamp on the head next to the date, and looking to see if it has dual valvesprings on bothsides. Even the GSR had an LSD option in Japan, so being LSD doesn't mean it is 100%
