also itr will have pr3-3 stamps on the head, gsr will have p72.
also so look for the year on the head for example if it says 9 2 its a 93, so if it isnt at least a 96 then its a gsr

JDM Type R motor will only say B18C. USDM Type R will say B18C5. As for the B18C, check the head and the intake manifold definatly...

usdm gsr = c1
udsm type r = c5
jdm gsr = b18c
jdm type r = b18c
how to distinguish? look at the intake manifold. gsr has butterfly manifold while type r doesnt.

The gsr mani looks kinda like a snail. the runners are all connected and the throttlebody is tucked under. The type r mani is more like a the resp of the honda mani's except it is all cast and has no writing on it. The main identifying marks would be the head stamp on the front, just under where the valve cover meets up. it should say pr3, not p72.

Re: Real Type-R motor (jL iLLuZiOnz 9)
dont just go by the manifold, because technically anyone can buy a gsr put the skunk2 manifold and a red valve cover on it,
GO BY THE HEAD MARKING
as far as the block, i dont think theres a any way to distinguish from a 2000 jdm gsr and a 2000 jdm itr

yeah man, the stamp shold read b18c and the manifold should resemble a b16. if it has the "waterfall" look manifold, its a GSR

my USDM ITR has B18C5 on the block... PR3-2 on the head as well as 9|8. based on what you say, my head/engine is a 99?
