The d16z6 sohc vtec and the JDM d15b both put out the same power. I believe the JDM d15b is basically a vx block with a z6 head. It makes as much power stock as a d16z6 because of a wilder cam. Either motor would be good. If you are going to buy a complete swap, the JDM d15b can be found with factory lsd.

The sohc vtec out of the 93-95 del sol/civics is a easy swap. I actually did that exact same swap. I had a 92 Civic DX hatch and put a $500 93 del sol D16z6 swap in it. Since all 92's have vtec wiring already it was pull out the old setup and drop in the new one and plug it in. Cut my 1/8th mile times from 10.6 to 9.8

If you cant afford a B16 or B18 I'd say go for the D16Z6. It's a nice ride!!!
With a turbo you can make it go pretty fast..

But if you can wait, just save your money and wait until you can afford the B18... I think that would be the best choice in the long run....

thats right super d-series, it had 220k miles on the ORIGINAL clutch. the only work it ever had done was a distributer, it was good, but the new D will be even better.

No the 92's already come prewired for vtec. So you can find a complete sohc vtec swap with a harness and it will plug in and work with no wires needing to be run. You'll also need the vtec ecu to work.

d16z6 motor is excellent for the price. power to weight ratio is good especially in lighter hatches to make it a mid/low 15'second car.

flat torque curve, weights 100-125lbs less then B18B swap, and makes very simliar power.

your average b18a/b setup will dyno @112-118whp and 105-112lb/ft of torque, while a d16z6 will make about 108whp and about 99-102lb/ft of torque.

while b18b swap will cost over or around $1500, D16z6 swap will set you at about $400-600 or so. for the extra $1000, you can make it putout at least 130whp, and run 14's

D16Z6 all the way.
