Problem with tracking/wandering in 93 sol.
Car :93 delsol 133k mi. chassis
Susp : all stock 150k mi. 15x6.5 rota C8's 195/50/15 Potenza S03's near new. Will be upgrading shock/spring combo very soon.
Problem : car wants to wander/ follow the road very badly. multiple alignments by competent mechanic. ball joints, bushings, tie rods, ect apperar in acceptable condition. No abnormal wear on tires.
Any ideas????? This is tough to drive in ice. Its a constant battle to stay on top of the car. Nonstop steering corrections. Id just like to be able to take a road trip and be able to relax. Can all this be attributed to the worn shocks?

If its the rack, is there a way for me to troubleshoot just the rack? can i put it on the lift and test it somehow? I have a neuspeed front bar and the axg's/h&r's will be on by the end of next month. TIA.
well, you'll know if its the rack. My brother's gsr rack rattled like hell when it went sour. Also, you'll notice free play in your steering (where you turn the steering wheel, but the wheels pause before they follow lead)
also, on my del sol, i went over a decently steep hill on a back road while traveling nearly 70 mph (four lane wide road with no other traffic for the picky people,) but when i came down the opposite side, the car decided to change lanes on it's own without me moving the steering wheel. I immediately lowered the car and solved the problem.

Sweet well then I dont think its the rack. nothing weird as far as sounds go. whew! I know those are high dollar...got to get the damn thing lowered. It looks like a 4x4 anyway
yeah, it really wasn't the actual lowering that solved the problem, the stiffer suspension is what did the trick. I've since changed suspension setups and went with a progressive rate spring. As far as launching goes, the car tends to lunge to the side with torque steer.
Russ, What are you running for a set up now? I am still open to sugestions and will not make up my mind until the second I place my order.
on me. Btw i looked at what you did to you motor, all I can say is wow. that sux but damn when you do something you do it right! How is the car now?

as far as suspension setups go.. progress sport progressive rate springs with tokico hp's. Stock rear sway bar, front and rear strut tower bars, and stock front sway bar. I used to have a set of adjustable springs on the car that gave a stiff, yet decent ride. The progress sports give a much softer ride, BUT they do let the car lean a lot more than the stiffer adjustable springs.
And the motor,,, yeah, i think i did a good job of destroying that one. If you click on my user name, you'll see a list of modifications that i have on my current b18c1 setup. Or just click here

dont forget about the wider tires by 4dr eg wants to wonder all over with 195/50/15s so3s on the road slowing it will jurk and all sorts of stuff .just have to deal with it..
invest in koni yellows and gc as well as sway bars. as you know the del sol is NOT the most rigid car, so you will have to do as much as you can to stiffen it up. i am currently running itr struts with skunk springs; DC f/r strut bars; lower tie bar; Tanabe front tie bar, and it handles "o.k." what i think will be a major factor is that i need is a gsr or itr sway bar and koni's to make it handle a whole lot better in tight, hard turns . hth
