just pull the pins out of the obd2 plug and put them in the correct order into
the older plugs. internally they are the same

Sure it's possible... I was running a D16Y8 (OBD-II) distributor and fuel injectors off of an OBD-I P28.

just cut the obd 2 plug off and match up the wires on the obd1 plug. the only thing different about 0bd2 over obd1 is the ecu
