Default 97 Civic Ex Questions

I have a 1997 Civic Ex and I was wondering what would be some starting modifications to increase performance? Turbo? Would that be easy to install on a Honda Civic or not? I am new to car work so I figure starting with a turbo would be a bad idea, and I should start with mods of the more "bolt on" style. Suggestions?

I also have a question about the power locks. The other night I went out to clean snow off my car and warm it up (I had not driven the car for 2 days and it has been pretty cold outside) and as I went to unlock the door I'm pretty sure I heard the power-door-lock actuator turning on (I guess that is the best term to use). I swear it sounded like someone was repetitively pressing the lock button inside the car. I put my key in the door and opened it with no problem, but this really freaked me out. Any ideas? I've had the car for about 3 weeks and have never noticed it doing this before last night.

Thanks

its the boogeyman... if you do want to get a turbo for the future, don't waste your money on bolt-ons, save. or get the basic cai.,dc header, exuast, & zex n2o kit with the 55 shot. either way its a win win.

Your boogey man was probably just the cold interferring with the locks. The components had probably seized up and could not complete a full "unlock". The actuator, solenoid, whatever it's called was probably just sticking while trying to unlock. Nothing to worry about, unless it still does it under normal temp. conditions.

heh the boogeyman indeed, I figured it must have had something to do with the cold weather but it didn't hurt to ask. I haven't heard it doing it since that night, and I don't want to hear it happening again

97ex+zex: I'm not sure about a turbo in the future, all I know is I do not have the skills needed to install a turbo Like I said "I am new to car work", so I guess bolt ons are the way to go? What is a "basic cai.", I guess the word basic tossed in there has thrown me off. Are there advanced CAIs? "dc header" -- A header from DC Sports?

Spade: the "D series knowledge" link?

I was reading my manual and I noticed that it has an entry for Remote Transmitter for the door locks and it says "On EX model in the U.S.", heh well that's what I have and I bought it used and I have no remote transmitter. How would I go about getting a new one? Call a dealer?

Next problem with this remote entry... Further down the page it says "IF you installed a non-Honda radio in your car, the keyless entry system... will no longer work". So even if I pick up a remote for it when I change out the damn AM/FM radio I will loose the ability to use it? Is there a way around that?

Thanks guys

As far as bolt ons go I'm looking at CAI, Header, and Cat-back right? How difficult are these modification?
