Default Dumb Question But Hey

Okay I got a 99 hatch with a ls swap, I'm planning on getting a catback. When I but the catback exhaust do I buy it for my swap or the model of my car? So in other words do I get the exhaust for the model of my swap or model of my car?

for your car's model
I believe you may need to extend it a bit, though.

The stock cat for your car will not meet up with the exhaust manifold of the LS.

You can take it to a muffler shop, and for pretty cheap, they'll extend the pipe, and rotate the flange a bit so it meets up.

your car's model. to have a perfect fit, might need a universal cat. or the LS one.

96-00 DX have the cat/header combo crap.

so if you have a LS swap i take it you don't have a cat right now... so basicly you have to order a JDM spec exhaust that has room for a under car cat. If you get a US 96-00 hatch exhaust it will reach all the way to your down pipe like your stock exhaust does.

if you get a US, you can just have it modifed to fit a cat of your choice.

good luck.

to get all the bends right u may want to go with the yr of ur car then extend it to the ls cat..but im not sure if u want to use that piping if the ls piping is wider..id probably go with a custom mandrel setup on this and let the shop get the right cat. and pipe sizing for u..

i had this problem on my G3 exhaust project where i want d 2 1/2" piping mating up to cat.
