The only thing that worked for me was a lot of air and a 3/4" impact gun that weighs around 15 lbs.

I have a gun and just wanted to make sure I am going the right direction even though I am 99% sure. The compressor I have just isn't putting out enough air so I will have to put the whole car back together and take it to a garage so they can break this thing loose. Dam it, just when I thought it was going to be easy to replace the Timing belt...

Now it does loosen going counter clockwise right?

im pretty sure it goes left...and chances are you are going to need more then a impact gun, unless yours has some *****

i had to use like a 3 ft long breaker bar, put it in 5th gear and mash on the brakes..it was a bitch

Well when changing out my cam gears I had to turn the crank counter-clockwise to tighten the belt (if memory serves me correctly). If this IS true, then that would suggest that the bolt is reverse threaded...but someone who knows for sure will answer...cause I could be wrong...don't have helms in front of me.

It's regular, not reverse thread.
